Qn: I have been sanctioned for a disciplinary offence. Will this appear on my transcript?
Ans: With the exception of notations in transcripts for academic suspensions, disciplinary records and offences are not indicated on students’ transcripts or degree scrolls.
Qn: I have a student conduct record with NUS. Will Graduate Schools, Future Employer(s), or any third parties find out about my disciplinary offence?
Ans: NUS does not provide any information to external parties without the consent of our students.
Qn: What happens if I do not complete my disciplinary sanctions?
Ans: Failure to comply with any disciplinary sanction or other requirement imposed may result in further disciplinary action being taken against the student.
Qn: Can a complainant appeal against the decision?
Ans: With reference to Clause 24 of NUS Regulation 10, the decision of the Board of Discipline (BOD) is final and binding on the student (i.e. the respondent), subject to any decision on appeal made by the Disciplinary Appeals Board (DAB). The BOD, which is a disciplinary tribunal of the University, adjudicates cases brought to it by the University when the respondent is alleged to have fallen foul of the community standards encapsulated in the NUS Statutes, Code of Student Conduct, etc. As the BOD proceedings are not initiated by the complainant against the respondent, the complainant cannot appeal against the decision of the BOD.
