Students should also familiarise themselves with the NUS Code of Student Conduct which is intended to guide students’ conduct in both the academic and non-academic aspects of their University life by providing an overview of the behaviour generally expected of them as members of the University community.

The Policy on the Protection of Staff and Students Against Sexual Misconduct provides an integrated approach for managing cases of sexual misconduct in NUS, and provides a system for reporting, investigation and decision-making.

During the management and administration of the vast number of undergraduate and graduate courses in NUS, NUS will necessarily need to collect, use, disclose and/or process certain personal data or personal information about individuals that have been enrolled in NUS. The Data Protection Policy will govern the collection, use, disclosure and care of personal data in NUS.

As an academic institution, NUS expects all students to maintain the highest standard of academic integrity. The NUS Plagiarism Policy stresses the importance of academic integrity and reflects how the University takes a stern view against such acts of academic dishonesty.

NUS has been a smoke-free campus since 1998. As such, NUS takes a serious stance on smoking on campus due to the safety and health risks posed. These include fire hazards due to indiscriminate disposal of cigarette butts and harmful effects to the health of persons inhaling second hand smoke.

In alignment with national efforts by the National Environmental Agency (NEA) and Health Promotion Board (HPB) and in compliance with the law, NUS shall take measures and initiatives to discourage smoking on campus. The NUS Smoking Policy gives an overview on the rules pertaining to smoking as well as the disciplinary sanctions in place for non-compliance. With effect from 1 October 2017, the Smoking (Prohibition in Certain Places) Act administered by NEA was extended to the compounds of all autonomous universities and within a 5-metre boundary around all educational institutions.
